On July 23, it became known that unemployment in Sweden overcame the psychological mark of 500,000 people. For their part, journalists turned to the State Employment Service and tried to find out which communes most acutely felt the economic consequences of the pandemic of coronavirus infection in terms of employment. This was announced on July 28 by the Sveriges Radio news service. As it turned out, the municipality most severely affected by unemployment during the pandemic, according to data provided by the State Employment Service, was Ore. Unemployment in a densely populated tourist city increased from 5.7% in January 2020 to 10.7% in June. We understood that it all looked dramatic and quite serious. Unemployment in Åre is due to the fact that the city is one of the largest tourist municipalities in the country, said Anders Söderman, head of the Swedish State Employment Service for the region. Following Ore, Sigtuna occupies the second line in the list of the worst victims, where the unemployment rate reached 9.5%.
