Japan regrets China's adoption of national security law in Hong Kong
The adoption by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of a law on national security in Hong Kong was regrettable to the Government of Japan. This was announced by Secretary General of the Government Yoshihide Suga at a press conference in Tokyo on June 30. According to him, the adoption of this law, despite the deep concern of the international community and the people of Hong Kong, is regrettable for the Government of Japan. Suga stated that Japan continued to support Hong Kong's right to democratic development as a result of the one-country two-system formula. According to the news agency, the highest legislative body of the PRC, the standing committee of the National People's Congress on June 30 unanimously adopted a law on ensuring national security in Hong Kong, which will enter into force on July 1. Recall that it was July 1, 1997, 23 years ago, that Great Britain returned Hong Kong to the sovereignty of China.
