Nebenzya announced the rebranding of Idlib terrorists into moderate opposition
Russia will not allow terrorist groups operating in the Syrian Idlib zone to be transferred to representatives of the moderate opposition, said Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya on June 16, speaking at a meeting of the Security Council on Syria. The Russian Permanent Representative noted that Moscow is counting on Turkey to fulfill its obligations to neutralize terrorist elements in Idlib. We hope that our Turkish partners will be able to fulfill their obligations to neutralize these elements, the Russian diplomat said. At the same time, we will not allow the rebranding of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) into a moderate opposition, which some are trying to hold, added Vasily Nebenzya. According to the news agency, on March 5, 2020, Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed an agreement in Moscow on the introduction of a ceasefire and a number of other measures to resolve the situation in Syrian Idlib.
