Kazakhstan named regions where severe flood is expected


The most difficult flood situation in Kazakhstan is predicted in Karaganda region. On March 10, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic Yuri Ilin said at a press conference. According to him, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has switched to a reinforced mode of work with Kazhydromet. A difficult flood situation is also expected in Kustanay, Pavlodar and East Kazakhstan regions. Ilin added that preventive explosive works took place on rivers in East Kazakhstan and Karaganda regions. In addition, local authorities have begun to loosen snow in river streams. According to the news agency, on February 25 Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin instructed akims (heads) of regions to monitor the flood situation daily.
