Italy breaks records for deaths and recovery from coronavirus

Over the past 24 hours, 475 people have died of coronavirus in Italy, and a total of 2,978 people have died since the outbreak began. The head of the Italian Civil Defense Service Angelo Borrelli told journalists on the evening of March 18. At the same time, the number of recovered 1,084 people during the day is also record, which is 37% more than in the previous period. In total, 4,025 people were treated for coronavirus in Italy. The total number of coronavirus infections in the country reached 35,716, an increase of 2,648 per day. It is noted that the most deaths are in Lombardy, where 319 people died. The average age of the deceased is about 80 years, approximately 70% of them male. As an alarming trend, there is also an increase in the number of infections among medical personnel, who are already more than 8 per cent of the total number of infections.
