In Tajikistan, during the pandemic, killings and robberies increased

A serious increase in certain types of criminal acts was recorded in May 2020 in Tajikistan. According to official statistics, the largest increase compared to the same period in 2019 showed a robbery of 75%. The number of murders and attempted murders increased by 62%, and apartment thefts by 35%. In general, in May there was a decrease in the number of recorded crimes by 12.4% compared to May 2019. In total, official statistics counted 1.5 thousand crimes. The decrease, in particular, was recorded for robberies, intentional harm to health, drug-related crimes, as well as fraud and violation of traffic rules and corruption.
