Half of Italian youth believe that they should help, not the elderly
39.2% of Italian citizens (including 49.3% of citizens under the age of 23 to 39) believe that the state should primarily provide assistance to young people, not the elderly, such are the Censis survey published on Wednesday, June 24. 35% of young people and almost 27% of all citizens of the country believe that the state spends too much resources on supporting senior citizens (from pensions to health care costs) and that this does not allow the state to help young people. About a quarter of Italian citizens are people of retirement age. The fertility rate is just over 1. The average age of birth of the first child is just over 30 years.
