Seven citizens of the Russian Federation detained in Thailand for violation of the state of emergency


Thai law enforcement officials detained seven Russian citizens on Phangan Island in Suratthani Province on charges of violating the state of emergency. This is reported by Bangkok Post on May 5. According to the publication, the police arrived after a complaint from local residents to a two-storey house located in the village of Nai Vok after midnight. Neighbors complained to the police about a group of foreigners throwing a party and breaking their peace with loud music. Law enforcement then found seven Russian citizens of four men and three women and some marijuana. As a result, the detained citizens of the Russian Federation were taken to a police station on Phangan Island, in which they were charged with drug use and violation of the state of emergency. For violation of the regime, those responsible for this can receive up to two years in prison and/or a monetary fine of 40,000 baht ($1.2 thousand). It should be noted, according to the news agency, earlier it became known that more than one thousand citizens of Russia returned to their homeland from Indonesia in April this year.
