Death rate in France up 9% due to coronavirus
The head of France's general health department, Jérème Salomón, said France's death rate had risen by 9% due to coronavirus, Le Figaro reported. Nationally, he said, the observed number of deaths in France is getting significantly greater than expected. The publication notes that the mortality rate increased the most in the following departments of France: Mayotte (40%), Upper Rhine (38%), Corsica (31%), Waz (14%). France's economy minister, Bruno Le Maire, previously confirmed there was no risk of food shortages in the country, according to the news agency.
