Coronavirus threat: Abkhazia authorities close border with Russia
The decree on closing the border with Russia in connection with the threat of the spread of coronavirus was signed by the Acting President of Abkhazia Valeriy Bganba. This is reported on March 28 by the press service of the Administration of the President of the Republic. The border will be closed for the period from 28 March to 20 April. Only citizens of Abkhazia and seconded citizens of the Russian Federation are allowed to cross it. In addition, the border will be able to cross the employees of diplomatic institutions accredited in the country, soldiers of the border administration of the FSB of the Russian Federation in Abkhazia and the united Russian military base, as well as drivers of cargo vehicles carrying out international transportation. Earlier, the news agency reported on the introduction of an emergency regime in connection with the threat of coronavirus in Abkhazia. The relevant decree was signed by the President of the Republic Valeriy Bganba. It should be noted that no cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in Abkhazia at present.
